The honest comparison
There's more than one way to improve AI visibility. Here's how our done-for-you engagement differs from software you run yourself, hiring a traditional SEO agency, or building it in-house — including where we're not the right answer.
A note on the labels. We do not describe our own service as self-serve — it is the opposite of that. In the table below, "software you run yourself" refers to AEO and SEO tools that a business operates on its own. In every row, the first column is work we perform for you.
The work is the product
Software can tell you what's wrong. It can't write your schema, fix your service pages, or build your citations. Someone has to do it.
AI asks different questions than Google
Ranking for a keyword is not the same as being named in an answer. We organize everything around the questions customers actually ask.
Verified, not assumed
We test real prompts against the engines every month, so you can see whether answers about your business improved or slipped.
| Click Elevate (done for you) | AEO / SEO software you run yourself | Traditional SEO agency | In-house or contractor | |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Who does the work | Our team implements everything | Your team implements; the software advises | Their team, usually scoped to search rankings | Your own staff or contractor |
| Schema & structured data | Written, deployed, and validated by us | Generated for you to paste in | Often an add-on rather than standard | Depends on who you hire |
| Business citations | Submissions and cleanup done for you | Delivered as a checklist | Commonly included for local SEO | Manual outreach |
| Crawlability & llms.txt | Diagnosed and fixed | Flagged as a warning | Usually limited to robots.txt and sitemaps | Rarely reviewed |
| Prompt & question targeting | Mapped to buyer questions and monitored on a schedule | Tracked in a dashboard you have to read | Keyword-led rather than prompt-led | Rarely done consistently |
| Competitor comparison | Who the engines name instead of you, tracked over time | Shared-ranking views | Ranking comparisons | Ad hoc |
| Reporting | Running reports: plain-language, monthly, with the evidence | Charts you interpret yourself | Varies by provider | Whatever you build |
| Verification that answers changed | We re-test the AI engines every cycle | Limited or self-run | Typically not measured | Almost never measured |
| Time required from you | Reviews and approvals | Substantial — the implementation is yours | Kickoff and check-ins | Continuous |
| Honest limit | We improve the evidence; no one controls an AI answer | Same limit, plus the execution risk sits with you | Their focus may not be AI answers | Same limit, plus a learning curve |
Categories, not companies. We've deliberately avoided naming specific vendors, and every row describes scope of work rather than promised outcomes. No provider can guarantee what an AI platform will say.
When we're not the right choice
- If your site is broken or unindexable. Fix the fundamentals first. Technical SEO comes before AEO, and we'll say so.
- If you need guaranteed rankings. No one can guarantee what an AI platform says. If that's the requirement, we're not a fit, and you should be suspicious of anyone who agrees to it.
- If you have no serviceable content at all. We can build it, but the honest sequencing is: get a real site, then get cited.
- If you want a cheap dashboard. Self-serve tools exist and are fine. You're paying us for implementation, not screenshots.
